Alex is a 22 year veteran of his department and had many stories to share. Everyone compared operations and traditions between both Germany and the United States fire service. Much was learned how similar we are with the exception of helmets. During his tour of the station, an American / European helmet exchanged occurred. He donated his European style fire helmet to our station for display. These helmet designs are pushing a 100 years old tradition. The helmet is florescent and continues to be a standard for the Germany fire service. The helmet will hang in our organization as professional respect for other fire service members in the world.
